In 8th grade social studies, my teacher pulled me aside and asked me to stop braiding my hair because it was distracting the class.

I’ve always been a little sassy, so I told her, “What you’re teaching won’t help me make money. What I’m doing will.”

Hair was my life.

After graduating cosmetology school I became even more obsessed. Redken and Pureology certified, countless color classes, precision cutting, every advanced training I could get my hands on. I was all in.

Until I burned out.

We joke that hairstylists are like therapists, but therapists actually have well being tools to support themselves through the emotional load of their day. Most salons don't have anything like that for their team.
